Atlanta native, currently blazing the opera scene with GSU Opera Theater.
JARIUS CLIETT, baritone, is a native of Atlanta. He received his Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from The University of Alabama, where he studied with Susan Fleming and James Seay. There he was heavily involved with their opera program, performing in productions of Menotti’s The Consul, Gilbert and Sullivan’s Patience, and his final performance with UAOT, Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. For two seasons, Mr. Cliett participated in GSU’s Harrower Summer Opera Workshop as Starveling in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Pistola in Verdi’s Falstaff, and Bartolo in scenes from Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. Mr. Cliett currently is a first year graduate student at GSU under the vocal instruction of Richard Clement and joined Georgia State’s Opera Theater program.
Since joining the GSU Opera Theater, he has been featured with Atlanta Chamber Winds for their “Mozart in the Garden” concert as Bartolo in Jonathan Dove’s Figures in the Garden with excerpts from Le nozze di Figaro and as Papageno in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. In the fall Jarius will be featured once again with GSU Opera Theater’s production of The Mikado, where he will be performing the title role of The Mikado.
